There's nothing quite like biting into a juicy, flavour packed hamburger made from scratch. Crafting the patties yourself allows you to use the highest quality ingredients, and cook the meat to your liking! Top your homemade burgers with all your favourites like melty cheese, crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, and zesty sauces. Served on a fresh bun, or as a flavour packed bowl, with a side of crispy home made fries.

Ingredients

Patties:
1kg lean beef mince
Generous pinch of salt and pepper
1 tbs onion powder
1 tbs garlic powder

Chips
1 large brushed potato
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
2 tbs olive oil

Salad of choice:
Cheese
Tomatoes
Iceberg lettuce
Onion
Pickles

Burger sauce:
½ cup aioli
¼ cup tomato sauce
2 tsp diced pickles
2 tsp white vinegar
1 tsp pepper

Serves 6

Method

1. Combine the patty ingredients into a bowl. With your hands, gently combine the meat and spices together, being careful not to overwork the mixture.

2. Roll the meat into small balls, and flatten until very thin. The thinner the patty the better. Let the patty’s sit while you make the fries.

3. Preheat your oven to 220 degrees. Line 1 large tray with baking paper. Wash your potato to remove any excess dirt.

4. Thinly slice the potato into shoe strings, and place into a bowl of iced water and sit for 30 minutes. Drain the water from the potato strings, and pat down with a tea towel removing as much excess moisture as possible.

5. In a large bowl, place the potato strings, spices, salt and olive oil. Mix until all the fries are well coated.

6. Transfer the fries to the baking sheets, and cook for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Once golden brown, remove from the oven and flip the fries over. Place back into the oven and cook for another 20-25 minutes or until they have reached your desired crispiness.

7. While the fries are cooking on the other side, pre-heat your BBQ. Cook the beef patties for 2-3 minutes or until charred.

8. Serve the patties on a bun or in a bowl with your salad & sauce combo, with a handful of fries!
